With the changes of the season I wanted to share with you five quick and easy steps to decorate for the fall season. These steps are going to save you time, money, and frustration when figuring out how to welcome fall into your home.
Fall is all about gorgeous color, cozy textures, and delicious aromas. So I want you to think about adding one item from each of these categories to bring fall into your home.
Color – All you have to do is look out your window to be inspired by the fabulous colors of fall. Pick one. Maybe it’s new to you, maybe it is a favorite, but by bringing that color into your home it can add a pop. Color can be added to your home through pillow covers, tea towels, picture frames, vases, baskets... The list is endless.
Natural/Organic – Next think about something outside that you can bring inside. Like a natural element. In the fall, it’s easy to see branches with gorgeous leaves adoring the stems. Cut a few and bring them inside. Acorns and pinecones make for lovely organic items that nod to the fall season. They add wonderful shape, color and texture to your home. Place those acorns or whatever you choose into a bowl and bam, you have a wonderful addition to any any table or counter.
Something fresh – What about a pot of mum’s or sunflowers. These outdoor beauties can add an element of organic goodness to your indoors. Maybe flowers are not your thing, so think apples or pears. These wonderful produce in the fall offer you a wonderful aroma, color and texture.
Texture – When you think cozy what comes to mind? Is it a soft blanket? Perhaps a lovely plaid throw, with the warm and inviting texture of velvet. Add a texture to your space. One that welcomes you to snuggle up to. Remember your organic items. Those items offer your eye texture. Don’t forget to offer your body the delight of fall textures.
Light – With days getting shorter and the nights longer, pull out some candles. Real flame or faux battery operated flames are wonderful to pop into anything glass. There’s nothing like the flicker of a candle to create a warm and relaxing environment. If candles are not your thing, pull out your tiny battery operated string lights. They would look fabulous in your bowl of acorns. You’ve just kicked your fall bowl up a notch.
