Hello Decor Friends,
Today I wanted to send you two tips that you can use in any room of your home. From de-cluttering to refreshing these two tricks will help you make smart and lasting decor decisions.
Are you ready?
#1 Edit before adding.
Often times our eyes will look around and want to add something new, perhaps a seasonal color. There is nothing wrong with that, and you know I am a huge fan of welcoming the seasons into our homes. However, whenever you add something, you need to edit something out. Layering is a decorating trick but, if we are not mindful of what we are adding, pretty soon our spaces can feel overrun with stuff. Not the look we are going for. “Stuff’ does not aid in highlighting the people and the things we love in our home. Be mindful to edit before adding.
#2 Bigger is Better
Your eye will always settle on a larger item before attempting to read smaller items. A large chunky lamp will always attract the eye and feel more cohesive than adding a smaller scaled lamp. One large item on a table will always be more appealing to the eye, then having multiple tchotchkes spread out all over a table. One large plant will draw the eye to that natural beauty as opposed to having lots of little plants spread out around a room. We naturally want anchor points when viewing a space. Too many small things does not allow for anchor items to shine. Do you have anchor points in your spaces?
This weekend I challenge you to edit before adding and look around to see if you have bigger items in your space or lots of little. Give it a whirl, swap some smaller items for bigger and see how it changes the feel of your space.
Bye For Now Friends,
