Christmas Citrus- Holiday Decor How To

Hello decor friends,

Today we are talking about all things dried oranges. They make gorgeous holiday decor. Can be used as garnish’s for cocktails and perfect in holiday simmer pots.

Here are the step by step directions to ensure your orange slices turn out perfectly.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°F (80°C).

  2. Wash and dry the oranges.

  3. Cut the oranges into 1/4-inch slices. …the thinner the better!

  4. Pat the slices dry with a paper towel.

  5. Place the orange slices on a baking rack on top of a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. Bake the slices in the oven for about 6 hours or until dry.

****When baking your oranges, set a timer to remember to flip the slices every hour or so. This helps the oranges to dry evenly and retain a flat shape rather than curling. I did this last year and they turned out so much better then letting them bake for the 6 hours straight.

For a Culinary Treat, Add Sugar or Spices

If you’d like to use your orange slices as a garnish for a cocktail, try sprinkling on some sugar, cinnamon, and/or ginger. This will result in a carmelized slice that makes a great treat.

Dried orange slices also make a nice ingredient for a stovetop simmer pot. Combine them with spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, and apples to make your home smell amazing.

Designer Tip

Spray your slices that are being used as decor with a shimmer spray paint. Your orange slices will glisten and sparkle when added to your tree or garland.

Will you be drying oranges this holiday season?

Bye For Now,
