Hello Decor Friends,
The word curated is dominating the home decor sphere these days.
Do you know what it means?
Here are a few words that describe what a curated home means to me.
A curated home has a:
Custom
Personalized
Intentional
Collected
Cohesive
Tells a story look.
Sometimes it is helpful to understand what a word DOES NOT mean
A curated home is NOT:
Adding lots of visual stuff
Not cluttered
Not filled with knick-knacks or tchotchkes
How can you approach creating a curated home?
Mix old with new. The contrast between the old and new creates a collected, time worn look.
Editing and adding is part of this process.
Mixing styles, adds a distinctly “curated” look.
You want white space or also knows as negative space.
Essentially, white space is empty, visual space. Not filling up every corner and crevice.
And this last designer tip is the most important for any style or decorating dilemma.
COMFORT is a must! When we are comfortable in our home the things around us give us pleasure.
There you have it. A crash course in what having a curated home can look and feel like.
Do you consider your home curated?
Bye For Now,
~Tatum
