A beautiful wallpaper installation starts with choosing an experienced installer. Before you book, take a little time to make sure they have the skills and experience needed for your specific wallpaper. Today I wanted to give you some tips when talking to potential installers.

Experience Matters

Not all wallpaper installs the same way. Ask whether your installer has worked with the type of paper you’ve selected—especially specialty materials such as grasscloth, vinyl, metallic, or PVC-free Type II wallcoverings.

Some materials require special techniques, including overlapping and double-cutting, so experience really does matter.

Get More Than One Estimate

It’s always a good idea to talk with a few installers before making your decision. Compare not only pricing, but also their experience, availability, and familiarity with your wallpaper.

The least expensive quote isn’t always the best choice—you’re looking for someone who will give you a beautiful, professional finish.

Ask How They Handle the Unexpected

Even experienced installers run into challenges. Uneven walls, tricky seams, bubbles, wrinkles, pattern alignment, or unexpected wall conditions can all happen.

Instead of asking, “Have you ever had a problem?” try asking, “How do you handle problems when they come up?”
