Hello, Decor Friends!

No matter where you are in the world, the warmer months are fast approaching—and you know what that means: it's time to take our meals outdoors and soak in all the sunshine and fresh air we can! Whether you're planning a casual backyard BBQ, a sunset dinner on the patio, or a festive brunch with friends, a few well-chosen pieces can make hosting a breeze and elevate your setup from simple to stunning. Today, I’m sharing my top 5 summer hosting must-haves—consider this your checklist for easy, beautiful entertaining.

1. A Set of Mini Vases

Nothing says “thoughtful host” like a table dotted with small, seasonal blooms. Mini vases are one of my favorite summer table styling tools—they're perfect for spreading charm across the table without blocking conversation. You don’t need to buy fancy flowers either—clip a few stems from your garden or pick up a market bunch and separate them out. A single hydrangea, zinnia, or daisy in each vase is all you need to create that relaxed, romantic summer vibe.

2. Large Serving Platters

Summer dining often means serving up family-style dishes: grilled veggies, fresh fruit, big leafy salads, and maybe even a peach cobbler. Large platters make it easy to feed a crowd and look gorgeous while doing it. I love using oversized ceramic or melamine platters that can handle generous portions and add texture and color to the table. Bonus points for platters that double as decor!

3. A Beverage Dispenser

No host wants to be stuck playing bartender all night. Enter the beverage dispenser—your best friend for summer gatherings! Fill it with fruit-infused water, iced tea, lemonade, or sangria and let guests help themselves. It keeps everyone refreshed and adds a fun visual element to your setup, especially when you add citrus slices or floating herbs.

4. Table Linens

Table linens are a game changer for outdoor dining. A good tablecloth or runner can anchor your tablescape, while cloth napkins add a touch of polish (and feel a little more special than paper). Go for light, breathable fabrics in cheerful patterns or summery neutrals. Don’t be afraid to mix and match—summer hosting is about effortless elegance, not perfection.

5. Colorful Acrylic Plates

Forget the flimsy paper plates. Colorful acrylic plates are sturdy, reusable, and perfect for outdoor use. They come in so many playful hues and can really tie your table together. I like to think of them as the jewelry of the table—functional, but also just plain fun. Plus, they hold up to kids, poolside dinners, and everything in between.

So there you have it—my top 5 summer hosting essentials! With these items in your entertaining toolkit, you’ll be ready for everything from impromptu cookouts to chic garden parties.

Happy hosting, friends—and may your summer be filled with laughter, good food, and beautifully set tables.

Until Next Time,

Tatum
